Personal — Richard T. Andrias was born in 1943 and is a Democrat. He began service as a Justice of the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department in 1996. Governor George E. Pataki appointed Justice Andrias.

Judicial Positions - Richard T. Andrias has sat as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court from 1988 to present. From 1985 to 1987 he was Acting Justice of the Supreme Court. He was a New York City Criminal Court Judge from 1983 to 1987.

Legal Practice - Justice Richard T. Andrias practiced law for the firm of Gordon & Schechtman from 1981- 1983. He worked for Davis & Davis from 1975 to 1981. From 1971 to 1975 he was an attorney for the Criminal Division of Legal Aid. Justice Andrias practiced for the firm of Gilbert, Segall & Young from 1970 to 1971.

He lectured for the U.S. Department of Justice — Conference on Judiciary and Crime Victims and was the Keynote Speaker at the National Institute of Justice/State Justice Institute Conference, on Aids in the Criminal Justice System. He was an Organizer and Panelist for the US Public Health Service's Judicial Education Program on TB and Aids and was also an Organizer and Panelist for the NYS Department of Corrections and NYS Division for Youth Sponsored Conference about Victims Issues in Corrections.
