Personal — Howard Miller was born in 1937.  He was appointed to the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department in 1999 by Governor George E. Pataki.  Justice Miller is a Republican. 

 

Judicial Positions — Prior to serving on the Appellate Division, the Honorable Howard Miller was a Supreme Court Justice for the Ninth Judicial District from 1991 to 1999.  He was a Rockland County Court Judge from 1981 to 1984.  Howard Miller sat as a Family Court Judge in Rockland County from 1974 to 1980.  He was Orangetown Town Justice from 1972 to 1974.

 

Private Practice — Justice Miller was in private practice from 1985 to 1990.

 

Military Service - Justice Miller served in the United States Army, Judge Advocate General's Office in 1959.

 

Academic — Howard Miller has been published and lectured on Family Law.

 

Education — He received his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1961 and went to Brooklyn College for his undergraduate degree.
