New York State

All NYS Courts are CLOSED today, Nov. 6th, for Election Day.

The following information is applicable starting tomorrow, November 7th:

All courts are open. (Please note that it may take awhile for the heat to return to normal in the Manhattan courthouses - you may want to dress accordingly). New York City Courts:

All NYS Courts are closed today, Nov. 6th, for Election Day. The following information is applicable starting tomorrow, November 7th.

New York County: All courts are open. (Except today, Nov. 6th, for Election Day)
Bronx: Courts are open.
Queens: Courts are open.
Kings(Brooklyn): Courts are open, except for the Red Hook Community Court, which is closed.
Richmond (Staten Island): Courts are open.
Court of Claims-Manhattan-?The Court of Claims will re-open on Wednesday, November 7th. Due to on-going telephone disruptions, if you are unable to reach a Chambers, you may dial 212-361-8150 for assistance.
Due to ongoing flooding conditions, court and administrative offices in Manhattan, at 25 Beaver Street and 26 Broadway, are closed.
No Defaults will be taken citywide.

Housing Court:

There will be no evictions citywide.

Long Island Courts:

Nassau County:

Courts are open, except as follows: Long Beach City Court is closed. As of November 5th, all proceedings are being handled out of the Hempstead District Court.

Suffolk County

All Courts are open.

Court of Claims, Hauppauge:

Will reopen Wednesday Nov. 7th.

Ninth Judicial District (Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester)

Appellate Courts

Appellate Term, First Department (Manhattan):The calendar for Monday, Nov. 5th, at 10:00 a.m., has been re-scheduled for Monday, Nov. 13th; the calendar scheduled for Monday, Nov. 13th at 10:00 a.m., is adjourned to Monday, November 19th, at 10:00 a.m.

Appellate Division First Department (AD1)

Court is open. Please montor CourtAlert 240s to keep informed of reschedule Oral Arguments. Please contact the court to confirm the Oral Argument schedule.

The Court has granted a general enlargement to perform any act required by the Court’s rules until the close of business on Thursday, November 8, 2012. Appellate Division Second Department (AD2):

Any cases scheduled for Monday, October 29th or Tuesday, October 30th will be rescheduled. The court has granted a general enlargement to perform any act required by the courts rules that is due on Monday, October 29th, or Tuesday, October 30th until the close of business on Wednesday, October 31st. There will be no handdown issued for decisions this week.

Cases scheduled for CAMP conferences on November 1st and November 2nd will be rescheduled for a future date.

2nd Circuit

Order Granting Filing Extension due to Hurricane Sandy. Chief Judge Dennis Jacobs has signed an order granting a seven day extension to filers whose office is located within the geographic area affected by Hurricane Sandy. Click here to read the order.

Southern District of New York, District Court

SDNY Bankruptcy

The courthouse at One Bowling Green is without power and will be closed indefinitely. The White Plains and Poughkeepsie divisions are open and operating and available to assist you in all matters,

Eastern District of New York, District

EDNY is OPEN today, Nov. 6th, for Election Day. The following infomration is applicable starting tomorrow, November 7th.

Brooklyn and Long Island locations are open.

Network issues related to Hurricane Sandy have been resolved. CM/ECF is now available for filing by the public. Attorneys should resume using CM/ECF for all filings with the EDNY.

Appendices, schedules and other documents referred to in the new CJA plan will be placed online within 10 working days.

Eastern District of New York, Bankruptcy

New Jersey State

Supreme Court Sets Nov. 14 as New Date for Argument in COAH Case See the Press Release

Essex County Court Users: Telephone service in Chancery Division, General Equity and Probate Courts, located on the eighth floor of the Wilentz Justice Complex, 212 Washington Street, Newark, is disrupted. Until further notice, court users with inquiries related to foreclosure, general equity and probate matters, should call 973-693-6425 or 6522.

Tax Court Chambers in Newark. Telephone service is currently disrupted for Judge Narayanan, J.T.C. and Judge Nugent, J.T.C., located on the 8th floor at 153 Halsey Street, Wilentz Building. Until further notice, inquires for these Tax Court chambers should be directed to 973-645-4280.

The Wells Fargo OTSC hearing scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1 has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15.

New Jersey Bankruptcy

Loss Mediation rescheduled
CM/ECF is now available for full access. Please understand that the system might be slower than normal.

The Loss Mediation Re-Visited Program originally scheduled for November 1st, 2012 in Judge Lyons' courtroom will be rescheduled. Please check back later for a new date.

The Chapter 13 hearings rescheduled from 10/30 to 11/7 for Judge Raymond T. Lyons, will be held in Courtroom No. 8. All hearings remain at their originally scheduled time.

Judge Wizmur's motion day is switched from Tuesday, November 20th, to Monday, November 19th.
