As of Monday, Nov. 5th, Courts in Manhattan will be open, except for the Midtown Community Court (at 54th Street). (Please note that it may take awhile for the heat to return to normal in the Manhattan courthouses - you may want to dress accordingly). These courts will have limited phone service. Please use the temporary phone numbers linked below.
Temporary Phone Numbers for Manhattan Courts

No Defaults will be taken citywide.

Long Beach City Court is closed. Important: Starting November 5th, all proceedings will be handled out of the Hempstead District Court.
Grand Jurors should follow the instructions of the District Attorney.
Trial jurors should report on November 7th.
Telephone standby jurors should begin calling the number on their summons on November 5th to determine when they must appear.
Suffolk County

As of November 5, 2012, the Appellate Division, First Department is open for business. However, there will be no oral arguments the week of November 5, 2012 - all cases scheduled for November 7, 8 and 9, 2012 will be rescheduled. The Court has granted a general enlargement to perform any act required by the Court’s rules until the close of business on Thursday, November 8, 2012. There will be no handdown issued for decisions this week.

Due to the hurricane and flooding downtown, the courthouse at One Bowling Green is without power and will be closed indefinitely. The White Plains and Poughkeepsie divisions are opening and operating and available to assist you in all matters. Please direct all Manhattan mail to the White Plains court and inquiries to 914-390-4060.
All 341 meetings scheduled for 80 Broad Street, NY, NY, on November 1 and 2, 2012, are adjourned. Please contact the trustee assigned to your case for the rescheduled date and time. The CJA Committee for the Eastern District of New York will be accepting applications for re-appointment to the CJA panel until November 1st, 2012, from CJA panel members whose appointment is expiring this December. New applications for appointment to the panel will be accepted through November 15th, 2012, from qualified attorneys not already on the panel.

The Loss Mediation Re-Visited Program originally scheduled for November 1st, 2012 in Judge Lyons' courtroom will be rescheduled. Please check back later for a new date.
The Chapter 13 hearings rescheduled from 10/30 to 11/7 for Judge Raymond T. Lyons, will be held in Courtroom No. 8. All hearings remain at their originally scheduled time.
Judge Wizmur's motion day is switched from Tuesday, November 20th, to Monday, November 19th.
