New Procedure for Apostille/Certificate of Authentication
The Department of State's
website has been revised to provide more information regarding Apostilles and Certificates of Authentication. The
website includes a description of the differences between an Apostille and a Certificate of Authentication. It also
provides instructions on how to obtain copies of vital records and Apostilles or Certificates of Authentication for
documents.
An Apostille/Certificate
of Authentication Request Form is now available for submitting a request to
the Department of State for an Apostille or
Certificate of Authentication. The new form eliminates the need for a cover
letter and includes a section for credit card information for the payment
of authentication fees (Albany
office only). The form should accompany all documents submitted for
authentication. One form can be used to order Apostille/Certificate
of Authentication for multiple documents that are going to the same
country. Please complete the form online, print it and bring it with you
when hand delivering a request for an Apostille
or Certificate of Authentication. Please enclose the online printed form
with documents submitted by mail.
Credit Cards are now
accepted at the Department's Albany office
for payment of fees for Apostilles and
Certificates of Authentication The Department of State now accepts
MasterCard, VISA and American Express for the payment of fees for Apostilles and Certificates of Authentication processed
in the Department's Albany

of fees. Credits Cards are not accepted for payment of fees for Apostilles or Certificates of Authentication in the

New York County Judicial Reassignment
Because of the
suspension of the Judicial Hearing Officer program, Judicial Hearing
Officer Ira Gammerman (Commercial Division Part
27, Part 27 City and Part 40) has left the court. Judge Gammerman’s
Commercial Division inventory is being reassigned immediately to Hon.
Jeffrey K. Oing in Part 48. In addition to his
assignment henceforth to the Commercial Division, Justice Oing will keep his current Part 48 inventory of General
Assignment cases.
Appearance dates
previously scheduled by Judge Gammerman in
Commercial Division cases then in Part 27 will be rescheduled for different
dates and times in Part 48. Counsel will be advised of the new dates and
times. In addition, as always, information on appearances scheduled in
individual cases is available in the court’s Supreme Court Records On-Line
Library (Scroll), accessible at the “Case Information” link on this court’s
website at www.nycourts.gov/supctmanh
and of course at CourtAlert case snaps which is available through the many
online inquiries on www.CourtAlert.com
For the time being,
Justice Oing will keep his current courtroom (Room
412) (Part phone number 646-386-3298). It is anticipated that Justice Oing will move his courtroom in May to Room 242.

Further
improvements on CourtAlert National Business Development Alerts
service:
Our clients’ usual feedback has lead to the National Business Development Alert service being further enhanced. As you already know our service will alert you for any new action commenced for names you list for any US District, Bankruptcy or Circuit court.
To avoid alerting on new
filings that the user is not interested in, the service offer several
features:
·
The specified name can be Defendant, Plaintiff or either
·
The CourtAlert program reports on names only if there is a blank character before and after the specified name, a technical way to say the “Jacksonville” will not be reported if you only look for a “Jack”. You can specify “Jack*” (wild card) and then any party name starting with “Jack” will be reported
·
The search can be limited to specified courts – and a convenient user interface allows specifying entire Circuits and/or specific courts
·
The search can be limited by Nature of Suit for the specified name
There are more enhancements in the work and a formal announcement will be made to include all enhancements once they are programmed.
