Please note that all of the courts will be closed on
Independence Day, Friday, July 4,
2008.
Whenever the courts are closed it is still possible to
file and retrieve documents, as well as commence cases over the Internet,
by means of electronic filing systems in several local area courts. The
Federal SDNY and EDNY Courts, the SDNY and the EDNY Bankruptcy Courts,
and the Supreme Courts in New York City,
as well as in Westchester, Nassau,
and Suffolk Counties,
all have various capabilities for commencing, filing and retrieving
papers electronically. Just be sure to review the applicable rules and
manuals for the procedures that must be followed in using any of these
systems.
