Updated Individual Rules for Judge
Deborah Batts
Judge
Batts has recently updated her individual rules. If you have any cases
before her, please download a copy and forward them to the attorneys
working on the cases. <<details>>
We have included a few items from her rules that we think you
should pay particular attention to:
1)
For those members of the bar that continue to electronically file letters
with the Southern District of New York please make sure you pay
particular attention to her rules. Judge Batts has an indication in her
rules that are in ALL CAPS that letters are to not be filed
electronically. Please also note that the court has a separate rule that
prohibits letters from being filing electronically.
2)
Two courtesy copies should be provided to Judge Batts.
3)
Judge Batts also has listed that all counsel that have ECF cases before
her are responsible for being current in any and all matters filed electronically
by the court. We all know what this means which is the parties are
responsible for reviewing the docket sheet despite the case being an ECF
matter.
Amended Rules (USBC-EDNY)
Please
be advised that the bankruptcy court for the Eastern District of New York
has recently updated their local Rules. Please click below for the courts

Customer Event Recap
I
wanted to thank our customers that took time out of their busy schedule
to attend our breakfast meeting we had this past Tuesday. I wish to thank
the customers that also responded that they were unable to attend due to
prior commitments, but were still interested in a follow up meeting.
Aside from updating the CourtAlert
community on the latest developments at CourtAlert,
we have taken away a number of suggestions from the community that will
produce an even better system. In addition to receiving wonderful reviews
on our updated web site, we still continue to draw more and more interest
in our case management system. New customers of the CourtAlert community that attended our meeting
this week were amazed that a PDF document can be automatically stored in
a document management system with no need to add a client matter number
or taking additional steps to save it. They were even more amazed that
the system can do a full text search on the PDF files as well. Thank you
once again for attending our meeting and for more making CourtAlert your best source for case tracking
and case management.
USDC - SDNY Watch List
One of the inquires raised by long standing customers and
some new customers was our SDNY Watch List service and why we have it
when a case is an ECF matter. Please allow us to explain which we believe
can save you from receiving that phone call from a partner asking where
the opinion is that a reporter is on the phone asking about. CourtAlert sends an alert advising our
customers using the watch list about any decision that's been issued.
These alerts typically will advise you of the issuance of a decision a day
or two before it’s entered onto PACER. As you know when an opinion
has been issued time is critical on certain matters. The court may get
delayed in having it scanned and added to PACER, but if you have the case
on our SDNY Watch List you can dispatch someone to court to pick it up as
it waits to be entered onto PACER. If you would like to look into this
further please click here: <<details>>
We are committed to remain the best!
Thank You,
Izzy Schiller, President
